For the optimum sailing experience, it is recommended to book your vessel at least a couple of months in advance, because many charter companies offer special deals and discounts for early booking. Sailors will encounter all the classical features of a tropical climate- stable and steady temperatures, never too hot or too cold, with sea temperatures rarely changing either. The wind is stable and mild, except in the hurricane season, which is best avoided if possible. Starting in June and lasting until November, the hurricane season hits its peak between August and October, when visitors will encounter a staggering drop in prices of both accommodations and charters. Be advised, if you plan on sailing around the British Virgin Islands around hurricane season, it is best to purchase an extensive insurance policy.
